The Peloritani, are a 65 km mountain chain that goes from Capo Peloro to the Nebrodi. From its peak it is possible to admire both of its spectacular slopes: the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Aeolian islands on one side, the Ionian Sea and the Calabrese coast on the other.Messina, that has always had a highly strategic position over the mediterranean, possesses an important heritage of XIX century fortifications and an old military ways. So we propose a tour to experience a piece of history, between gorgeous landscapes and popular traditions.We will start our tour from Messina sport.You will be welcomed by the naturalistic Guide which will briefly introduce the tour.The vehicles, the comfortable Land Rover Discovery TD5, 6 seats+driver, front seats, equipped with air conditioning, will be radio connected in order that everyone will be able to listen the information given by the Guide.The first stop of the tour, will be in Gesso, a little village on the top of a hill, where you will visit the Museum of the traditional culture of the Peloritani area. Then we will proceed in direction of a military fort, named Forte Campone that we will reach in an exciting off-road track along some old military ways. You will visit the fort and then you will enjoy a little tasting of almond pastries and some Zibibbo wine.The last stop of the tour will be at Dinnammare, that is the highest point of the route (1130 m), with a nice viewpoint on both the Ionian an Tyrrenian sea and the Aeolian Islands.Back to the port.
