Experience the natural beauty of Mainland, Shetland’s largest Island, on a scenic driving tour that takes you through the picturesque countryside. You’ll travel across a landscape of peat- and heather-covered moors to Scalloway and Scalloway Castle. Once there, enjoy touring the keep and the ruins of the castle built by Patrick Stewart, the 2nd Earl of Orkney, who was widely known as a tyrant. He built the castle in 1599 to reinforce his power across the land. After touring the castle, you’ll get back in the motor coach and travel through Tingwall valley, an area with uninterrupted views of farmland, small lakes and streams. From the tranquil landscapes of Tingwall valley, you will head toward Weisdale Voe and experience a contrasting landscape of barren hills stretching toward the coast. You’ll ride until you arrive at the Shetland Jewelry Workshop, where traditional Shetland jewelry is handcrafted into Celtic- and Norse-inspired fashions. After your tour, you’ll head back to the pier.
