This is a 7 hours and 45 minutes tour; you will disembark the ship Hellesylt port and rejoin the vessel in Geiranger port. The path from Vollset to Flo has been one of the main access routes among Sunnmøre, the Nordfjord and the eastern districts since medieval times. Goods exchanged the inland and coastal communities had to be carried along this path — either by man or on horseback — because the roads were so rough that no other means of transportation was possible. From Hellesylt, you’ll begin your tour with a drive along the Bygdeelva River to the Vollseter Farm, situated approximately 820 feet above sea level. From there, you’ll begin the journey by foot and walk the beautiful terrain. Passing by several mountain lakes, you’ll then reach the highest point on the path, 1,800 feet above sea level. The first view of Strynsvatn lake, surrounded by mighty mountains such as Skåla and Lofjellet, will come into focus. There, you will rejoin the bus to continue your journey following the 9-mile Strynsvatnet, known for its lovely turquoise color. Reaching the other side, follow the Djupvatn Lake to the far end, where you’ll make a detour up the steep toll road to the Mount Dalsnibba viewpoint. After your tour, you will descend to Geiranger valley, with a brief photo stop at the Flydal gorge along the way. After this adventure-filled day, you will return to port.
