After leaving the port, your first stop will be to visit Old Town, Madeira. While there, you’ll get to see a new showcase, “Arte de Portas Abertas,” and then continue on to visit the local market. Afterwards, head to the area’s Armazem do Mercado (Market Warehouse) to begin your Madeiran Cooking Experience. Local chef Luisa Freitas, whose passion is everything food, will show you how to cook a traditional Madeiran dish, with a modern twist. Luisa created the Madeira Cooking Experience with her sister Mafalda after winning the II FN Kitchen Team Cup and placing 3rd in the competition À Descoberta do Talento - Rota das Estrelas (The Discovery of Talent — Route to the Stars). Freitas is also owner and chef of a restaurant in Funchal called Entre Amigos (“Between Friends”), where she explores, experiments and develops new recipes, flavors and ways to cook.
