Enjoy this half-day excursion to a well-known winery for a tour and tasting. First on your agenda is a walk around the grounds of the winery, located near the base of Mount Etna, Europe’s largest volcano. Learn how the volcanic soil helps create wines with intense flavors as you taste a variety of wines. After you’ve enjoyed your last sip, rejoin your motor coach and disembark at a point with a stunning view of Mount Etna, a great photo opportunity. From this unique perspective, you can see where lava streamed down the volcano between 1991 and 1993 and nearly buried the town of Zafferana Etnea. Almost 80 billion gallons flowed down the side of the volcano before the U.S. Marines and Italian volcanologists created a diversion channel. After you’ve gazed upon this tremendous sight, you’ll climb back aboard your motor coach and return to the pier.
- This tour is not recommended for guests with mobility issues, as you must travel a 300-yard incline in order to reach the winery.
