Established in 1825 the pretty Georgian-era village features quaint handmade brick and mellow stone cottages and manors and showcases some of Tasmania’s best art and craft.
Visit Richmond Gaol built in 1825 as part of Governor Arthur's system of police districts. One of its infamous inmates was convict Ikey Solomon, said to be the model for Charles Dickens' Fagin in his celebrated book “Oliver Twist”.
Next stop is one of the stunning Coal River Wineries, set amidst hectares of vines, with sweeping vineyard and water views. Enjoy a taste of some of Tasmania's premium produce and sample some if its finest wines.
